To Trump, or not to trump

It is perplexing–why are we here, at this point, accepting such a divisive individual as a potential president of the United States (not really a question, just apprehension). Every time his name is evoked on television or radio, I have a compilation of doomsday images from movies that have reviled my soul playing in my mind over and over … and over …
Are my fears justified? I know I will wake up soon, and drink myself happy in diet soda reality. Trump is a phenomena where even the people he claim to “hate” seem to love him. What a contradiction!

This scenario reminds me of a scene in Julius Caesar (1953) that starred a young Marlon Brando as Marc Antony where he pleaded for empathy against the noble Brutus. The foil here were the plebeians, or common citizens, who were easily swayed from one point of view to the next; yet, it enabled the plot to develop into the downfall of the conspirators.
Is this to be the fate of Trump? Will we realize the danger of having him as a US president? Will we, hopefully, see Trump return to his wacky world of bullying corporate investors from office buildings he has “bought”? Please say it is so!
Or, maybe we are demonizing someone who could help our country. Noooooo! Being complacent is what we Americans (that includes everyone) are quite good at.
Trump is symbolizing an honest approach to being racist and rude–something that the Civil Rights Act and Affirmative Action inceptions have prevented the dominant race from further denigration of the minorities in this country. Here arises the Anglo demi-god, evoking years of polite retort.

Even if Trump does not win (hopefully)–he represented something.
That something can be anyone’s own perception.
